Creek Vean House

Team 4 – Norman Foster and Richard Rogers, Creek Vean House, Cornwall-UK, 1963-1966

The house sits atop a steep hill with southerly views of the sea, creek and woodland. It features open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, as well as a study, bedroom and a self-contained guest suite with separate entrance and workshop.
Creek Vean is constructed along two axes. The east-west axis is external and leads from the street and car park across a bridge to the front door, down a planted flight of steps to the lawn and then to the dock and creek. The internal axis runs north-south and takes the form of a picture and sculpture gallery with a glass roof, lit from the outside at night.
