Steven Holl Architects – The private gallery and house, Kangbuk, Seoul, Korea, 2008-2012

The Daeyang Gallery and House, designed by Steven Holl Architects, is located in the Kangbuk district of Seoul, South Korea.
The geometry of the roof plane was inspired by a 1967 sketch for a film score by Hungarian composer István Anhalt.
Three pavilions, an entry, an event space, and a residential space, are separated by a reflecting pool. Below, they are connected by a continuous art gallery space. Skylights open on the roofs of the pavilions and in the base of the reflecting pool bringing natural light into the spaces and below the gallery level.
