Eduardo Prieto Lopez House

Luis Barragan – Eduardo Prieto Lopez house, San Angel, Mexico, 1950

The house was built in 1950 and is part of the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood designed by Barragán for a lava-covered site in Mexico City.
The common features of the houses designed by Luis Barragán are: pink terracotta walls but in a modernist style; large windows that open onto the gardens; minimalist wooden furniture; ceilings with traditional wooden beams; carefully placed skylights and light wells and in general a great sensitivity to the behavior of light; the rooms are sized with great care.
