Maison La Roche-Jeanneret is a double villa built by Le Corbusier in 1924, located at numbers 8-10 rue Doctor Blanche, in Paris.
The La Roche-Jeanneret complex consists of two separate, adjacent but inseparable homes: the first, maison Jeanneret, was built in collaboration with the architect Pierre Jeanneret in 1925, while the second was intended for Monsieur Raoul La Roche, a wealthy economist and cultured collector of modern art (his collection included paintings by Picasso, Braque, Lèger, Gris, Lipchitz and Le Corbusier himself, a well-known purist painter). From the entrance gate, a sloping path winds its way, entering deep into the lot, allowing access to both homes, clean, white volumes with notable plastic qualities.
Maison La Roche is particularly interesting from a planimetric point of view as it completely dissociates the functional area for living in the strict sense from that intended for the enjoyment of the various works of art: in this way the public part of the house is effectively separated from the private one, in such a way as to avoid any conflict, but at the same time an indissoluble bond is established between painting and architecture, two universes that present strong interpenetrations, even in the biography of Le Corbusier.
