The Viipuri Library (also called the Alvar Aalto Library) is the municipal library of the Russian city of Vyborg, built according to the design of the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Before the city was ceded to the Soviet Union in 1940, at the end of the Winter War, the city had the Finnish name of Viipuri.
The Viipuri library is the result of the juxtaposition of two parallel and staggered building blocks: the larger block contains reading rooms, the children's library, a magazine and newspaper room and the book distribution counter, while the smaller, elongated block includes an archive, a small auditorium and administrative offices.
