The house was built in 1950 and is part of the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood designed by Barragán for a lava covered site in Mexico City.
The characteristics common to the houses designed by Luis Barragán are: pink terracotta walls but in a modernist style; large windows opening onto the gardens; minimalist wood furniture; ceilings with traditional wooden beams; carefully positioned skylights and wells of light and in general a great sensitivity to the behavior of light; the rooms are sized with great attention.
