At the 2008 Yokohama Triennale in Japan, several contemporary architects joined the artists exhibiting their works. Akihisa Hirata, Ryue Nishizawa (sanaa), and other emerging architects exhibited projects in what is the largest international art exhibition in Japan.
Architect Hirata, one of the most promising young architects in Japan, exhibits the “house of houses” developing his 2007 concept “house t”. This experimental building housed the triennale’s information center and an exhibition of housing proposals by several other architects. Since his previous work “house s” (2006), Hirata has explored the untapped potential of the house and its pitched roof.
