Lewin House

Walter Gropius – The Kurt and Gertrude Lewin House, Berlin Germany, 1927-1928

Composition of cubic forms that intertwine and rest directly on the flat ground. Total absence of decoration, two floors, white facades, a distribution that deviates from the standards of the time and the use of the flat roof. The empty spaces of the facade are reduced in its elevation with respect to the street (northeast), much wider on the sides and at the back (southwest). The house has similarities with those that Gropius designed for the teachers at the Bauhaus in Dessau.
