Donato Bramante

Donato “Donnino” di Angelo di Pascuccio, known as Bramante and also known as Donato Bramante (Fermignano, 1444 – Rome, 11 April 1514) was an Italian architect and painter, one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance. Trained in Urbino, one of the centers of Italian culture in the XNUMXth century, he was active first in Milan, influencing the development of the Lombard Renaissance, then in Rome, where he designed the Basilica of San Pietro. As an architect, he was the most important personality in the transition between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries and in the maturation of XNUMXth-century classicism, so much so that his work was compared by his contemporaries to the architecture of Roman ruins and he was considered “the inventor of light of good and true Architecture”.
