They are officially open registrations for the 2019 POROTON® AWARD, established by the POROTON® Italia Consortium in order to enhance and disseminate the good practices of designing and constructing brick masonry buildings, through the selection and awarding of buildings designed and built in full compliance with national regulations on energy saving, thermohygrometric comfort and acoustic, fire safety and structural.


Why the POROTON® AWARD 2019

Enhancing, disseminating and encouraging projects and practices capable of responding to the needs of use and life of users, paying the utmost attention and respect for the environment and safety, without sacrificing architectural quality, is part of the mission of the POROTON® Italia Consortium.

We firmly believe that, despite the difficult period that the construction sector has been facing for years, Italian technicians and designers are continuing to express the maximum of imagination, creativity, ability, versatility, quality and experience, in the design and construction of buildings, using all the mastery with which they are also equipped in the use of brick, founding and traditional material of our culture of building.

The goal of the POROTON® PRIZE 2019 is to bring out at least a small part of this heritage of technical expertise, that despite the bureaucracy and the economic crisis, it is constantly evolving, always animated by great impetus and new ideas.

How to participate

The nominations they can be submitted by individual designers, by technical studies and also by groups of designers or technical studies, no later than May 31, 2019. The award is aimed at interventions by new construction and of renovation, of private or public buildings, of any construction type and any intended use, made in the last 4 years (from 01/01/2015 onwards).

The use of porous brick blocks for masonry, produced by companies belonging to the POROTON® Italia Consortium ( see List of companies and products), is a necessary condition for participation in the competition. These products must play a significant role in the candidate project, whether they are used for the construction of load-bearing or infill walls.

Candidates must send a description of the project accompanied by project tables and photos of the construction to the POROTON® Italia Consortium, according to the procedures provided in the Competition Notice.


 

The winners

After the application phase, a Jury of professionals and experts in the sector will evaluate the participating projects by drawing up a ranking and identifying the three projects deemed most deserving, by the day 11 October 2019. The evaluation of the Jury will also take into account the following criteria: quality and architectural originality of the project, the way in which POROTON® walls have been used to achieve the desired performance in terms of energy saving, acoustic insulation, structural safety and fire safety.

In addition to prestige of having been selected as winners, the first three selected projects will be awarded the following prizes:

  • € 5000 for the first classified
  • € 2000 for the runner-up
  • € 1000 for the third place

The awarding of prizes to designers, as full recognition of personal merit, is an encouragement to the development of high quality construction projects, in the interest of the community.

The POROTON® Italia Consortium will also give visibility to the winning projects (and possibly also to other projects deemed worthy) through its communication channels: Murature Oggi magazine, POROTON® website and newsletter, Social channels, etc ...
