The redevelopment project of the old unused area of Fiera Milano, carried out by the famous Archistar Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki and Daniel Libeskind, in order to transform this area into a modern and car-free residential neighborhood in the famous Italian city of Milan, led the construction of one of the most beautiful and functional residential centers in Italy, with iconic buildings such as the Hadid Residence and the Libeskind Residence.

Recently on the online platform for architecture and interior design, GoPillar (http://gopillar.com/it/), which has hosted private design and design competitions launched by customers from all over the world since 2014, has opened a Contest dedicated precisely to the collection of ideas and interior design solutions for one of the wonderful apartments offered by the brand new district of CityLife.

What are the specific customer requests for the CityLife Apartment Contest?

The main challenge that this competition offers is certainly the realization of a non-trivial interior design that can be in line with the complex geometries designed by Daniel Libeskind for his residences. This is not the only choice of pieces of furniture that can best decorate an apartment of this type, the internal layout is also to be established in order to comfortably accommodate a young family with children in a trapezoidal-shaped apartment with two large terraces placed on the two short sides.
More specifically, the customer asks to organize the 140 square meters of space in order to obtain:
  • A large and spacious open space living area with dining area and kitchen
  • A guest bathroom attached to the living area
  • A master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and walk-in-closet
  • A laundry area
  • A second bedroom to be prepared now for study and then for the children's room with bathroom.

What are the entries to be submitted to participate in the CityLife Apartment Contest?

Being a competition of pure architectural design of the spaces, the works required to participate in the competition are almost all technical. In fact, the following is required to prepare: a plan of the new layout of the spaces in the apartment which is completely listed and with an indicative arrangement of the pieces of furniture in the space; a complete plan of the lighting distribution in the plan, with an indication of the type of light used in each position; a plan of the false ceilings necessary for the best location of the light (e.g. spotlights, LEDs, etc.); Finally, a complete list of materials to be used to complete the project is requested, including any floors, tiles, paints, wallpapers, etc.

How can I participate in the CityLife Apartment Contest?

Any architect or interior designer, from anywhere in the world, can participate in the private competition to design one of the CityLife apartments in Milan and thus win the prize by simply registering on the online platform GoPillar.com (http://gopillar.com/ it /) in which the Contest is hosted and by filling out a short professional profile. Participation in the competition is totally free and free of costs for the architect and the deadline for submitting the works is April 7, 2020.
