Erosion Protection – Branch Repellent Layers
Dwg file at 1:100 scale (meters)
The Repellents or brushes have the function of promoting the sedimentation of the material close to the bank and maintaining the current at the center of the section. They are structures transversal to the axis of the watercourse that, adequately embedded in the bank, extend towards the center of the riverbed interfering with the current.
It is a layered repellent made of brushwood consisting of a body of layers of bundles or brushwood alternating with gravelly tout-venant generally taken from the riverbed.
The layers are contained and protected by rows of piles of size and pitch depending on the type of seabed and the water level.
In the case of reconstruction of the bank line, the tips of the branches must end in correspondence with the designed bank line. The foot of the layered construction will be further consolidated with stones in the section of oscillation of the water level.
