Facade section with glass screen
DWG drawing with 1:20 scale definition
The drawing depicts a vertical section of a façade featuring a shading system consisting of inclined glass panels mounted on a lightweight metal substructure.
The screens, arranged in series along the building's levels, are attached to brackets anchored to the main structure. This is achieved using metal profiles and inclined arms, which determine their installation angle. These elements ensure rigidity and wind resistance.
Behind the screening system, the glass curtain wall extends. This is composed of vertical modules with aluminum mullions and transoms. It is integrated into the floors using connection joints and horizontal closing strips.
The building's intermediate floors consist of composite steel-concrete floors. There are main and secondary trusses, while the roof follows the same structural logic.
The gap between the glass façade and the inclined screens creates a ventilation gap. This contributes to the passive control of solar radiation, thus improving interior comfort and reducing air conditioning energy costs.
The transparency and lightness of the exterior glass panels still allow for good natural lighting. Furthermore, their variable inclination along the planes defines a dynamic and technological geometry of the architectural skin.

This refined construction detail is part of the adaptive reuse project of the office buildings of Amsterdam (Kraanspoor).
