Creating accessible spaces for people with disabilities involves taking into account various guidelines and standards to ensure that the spaces are usable. Here are some key elements to consider, along with general measures:
Income and Expenses
Door width: at least 90 cm to allow the passage of wheelchairs.
Ramp: Maximum slope of 1:12. For a ramp of 1 meter in length, the maximum height should be 8-10 cm.
Paths
Aisle width: at least 120 cm to allow the passage of wheelchairs and to ensure the passage of a person with an accompanying person.
Surfaces: use non-slip and level floors.
Accessible Bathrooms
Maneuvering space: area of at least 150cm x 150cm to allow for the movement of a wheelchair.
Toilet: height of the toilet approximately 45-50 cm from the floor.
Handles: installed at a height of 80-85 cm.
Signage
Contrast: Use contrasting colors for signage, with clear, legible text.
Braille: Include information in Braille for people who are blind.
Seats
Chair height: between 45 and 50 cm from the floor for easy access.
Legroom: At least 80 cm of free space under the table.
Access to the Upper Floors
Elevators: must be large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, with buttons at an accessible height (80-120 cm).
Stairs: must have handrails on both sides, with a height of 90-100 cm.
