Typical logarithmic wind profile in the surface layer, in neutral conditions (Stull 1988). M is the mean wind speed, z the altitude. In the surface layer the wind speed increases approximately with the logarithm of the altitude. The profile deviates slightly from the logarithmic trend in conditions of unstable stratification.
