A boarding bridge, also called a boarding bridge or a boarding gantry (sometimes called a finger), is a closed, movable connector that connects an airport terminal gate to an aircraft. It allows passengers to board and disembark the aircraft more quickly than with ladders. Depending on the building design, the boarding bridge can be fixed or movable: it can move either vertically (raising or lowering) or horizontally (lengthening or shortening).
