The bituminous conglomerate, commonly called asphalt, is made up of a mixture of aggregates (rocky materials of different grain size such as filler, sand and gravel) and a binder.
Conglomerates also include the addition of polymers (synthetic resins) that influence the physical and/or chemical characteristics of the material.
It is normally used for the construction of driveable surfaces (roads, runways, etc.) but it is not the only component.
