Giammarusti building on Ruspoli Brothers Street
A balance between structure and lightness in the modern Rome of Monaco and Luccichenti
La Giammarusti Building, commissioned by engineer Giammarusti, is a refined example of modern Roman architectureIt was created by the architects Vincenzo Monaco e Amedeo Luccichenti, also authors of the adjacent buildings of Largo Messico for Grazioli Park Society.
The building is developed on five floors above ground a more duplex penthouseIt represents one of the best examples of the compositional research of the two designers in the 1950s. north facade it is slightly concave to follow the curve of Ruspoli StreetIt stands out for its regular and compact structure, where the reinforced concrete frame is highlighted. It recalls the architectural language Ridolfian.
On the opposite side, overlooking Villa Grazioli Avenue, the composition becomes more dynamic. This is thanks to the horizontal bands of continuous terraces and bow window which mark the elevations, giving rhythm and depth. Particularly interesting is the solution to the attack on heavenHere the connecting staircase between the two floors of the attic appears as a overhanging volume. It is surmounted by a light shelter which extends outwards like a real free plane in space, a clear sign of the design sensitivity of Monaco and Luccichenti.
