Hadid Residences in CityLife Milan
Sculptural architecture and urban vision between dynamism and organicity
Within the large urban redevelopment project of CityLife in Milan, the signed Residences Zaha Hadid Architects They represent one of the most iconic expressions of contemporary architecture in Italy. This visually striking residential complex intertwines formal experimentation, attention to the urban landscape, and a focus on quality living.
A fluid and dynamic language
Zaha Hadid's design style manifests itself in all its plastic power: the lines are curved, the volumes overlap and intersect with movements reminiscent of waves or geological stratifications. The facades are modeled in continuity with the balconies and terraces, creating a sense of flow and lightness that breaks with the rigidity of the traditional residential block.
The use of warm materials such as composite wood approached to bright white of the plaster and metal elements, generates an elegant contrast, which changes appearance with the daylight and depending on the point of view.
Parametric design and attention to detail
The Residences were conceived through an approach of parametric design, where complex geometries were digitally modeled to optimize aesthetic, functional, and energy performance. Each building—and especially each balcony—is slightly different, as if part of a constantly evolving organism.
This variability is also reflected in the management of internal volumes: the apartments are designed with great flexibility, ensuring maximum openness to the outside through floor-to-ceiling windows.
A dialogue with green
The entire complex is immersed in a large urban park, with pedestrian spaces, bike paths, and green spaces weaving between the buildings, emphasizing the concept of a "park-city" where nature and architecture coexist. Greenery is conceived as an integral part of the daily lives of residents and also contributes to the microclimate, air quality, and livability of the urban context.
A gallery to observe, study, and get inspired
The photographs in the Archweb.com gallery offer a complete vision of the project: broad perspectives and detailed views allow us to appreciate not only the overall urban impact, but also the architectural solutions adopted in the construction details. From the cladding to the parapets, from the geometric elevations to the connections with the greenery, each image is designed to convey the quality of the project with precision and impact.
