The Villas of Porta Nuova in Milan

Urban residences offering privacy, greenery, and contemporary architecture

In the heart of one of the most iconic neighborhoods of contemporary Milan, Porta Nuova, lies a residential project that many visitors don't even notice at first glance. Among the glass towers, pedestrian boulevards, and large public park, the Villas of Porta Nuova, a set of six buildings that reinterpret the model of the Milanese “urban villa” in a contemporary key.

A discreet, almost camouflaged intervention, which nevertheless represents one of the most interesting pieces of the regeneration of the entire district.

A new way to experience the city

The Villas are part of the major redevelopment of Porta Nuova, an area that has transformed former industrial spaces into a neighborhood packed with services, greenery, pedestrian connections, and architectural quality.
Here, the idea of living no longer passes only through the "skyscraper-residence", but opens up to more intimate typologies, closer to the scale of everyday life.

The Porta Nuova Villas bear the signature of M2P Associates, a Milanese studio that has been active for years in architectural and urban design, focusing on the dialogue between form, function, and quality of living. Their working method is distinguished by a constant search for balance: clean lines, carefully selected materials, and a design approach that never seeks dramatic effect as an end in itself, but rather the creation of spaces that enhance everyday life.
In the case of the Villas, M2P interprets the tradition of Milanese houses with gardens, transforming it into a contemporary and refined architectural product. Attention to detail, light, and the relationship with greenery is one of the most recognizable traits of their design approach, which finds particularly refined expression here.

Architecture and spaces: elegance in measure

The residences are developed on small dimensions but generous in perception, thanks to three key elements:

1. Multiple perspectives
The interior spaces open on multiple sides, creating a fluid connection with the exterior and maximizing natural light. This concept recalls the modern open-plan layout, but applied to a private residential typology.

2. Terraces and hanging gardens
Each villa enjoys private open spaces: deep terraces, loggias, small raised gardens.
It's a deliberate choice: to bring the dimension of greenery just a few steps from the living room, even in the heart of a large metropolis.

3. Materials and language
Neutral-toned facades, textured coverings, generous but never ostentatious openings.
The aesthetic is understated and sophisticated, perfectly consistent with the Porta Nuova context: a balance between luxury residences and large-scale architecture, without competing with the surrounding towers but creating a more human counterpoint.

Tailor-made living

One of the project's most distinctive features is the complete customization of the interiors: the surfaces—approximately 8.500 square meters in total—have been designed to allow residents to shape the spaces to their own needs.

This flexibility, combined with the privacy guaranteed by the layout of the units, makes the villas almost a "micro oasis" in the heart of the city.

A fundamental piece in the Porta Nuova mosaic

The Porta Nuova Villas are not an isolated element, but interact with:

  • the Vertical Forest, with whom they share the idea of living greenery vertically;
  • the Library of Trees park, which becomes a sort of “extended” public garden a few steps from the entrances;
  • the pedestrian paths and the squares of the neighborhood, which define a continuous system of open spaces.

In this sense, the villas represent an intermediate level between the metropolitan scale of the towers and the more intimate dimension of private homes.
