Electa Book Pavilion
James Stirling's project in the gardens of the Venice Biennale
The Electa Book Pavilion at the Venice Biennale designed by James Stirling and Michael Wilford with Thomas Muirhead, inaugurated in 1991, on the occasion of the Fifth International Architecture Exhibition.
The pavilion is located among the trees in the garden in front of the entrance to the Biennale.
The pavilion is made with a steel load-bearing structure that saw the participation of Permasteelisa for the coordination of design and structures. The external envelope has a long ribbon of glass below and above the roof covered in copper sheets. The interiors and furnishings are in wood.
The director of the Architecture Sector of the Biennale in 1991 was Francesco Dal Co.
