Multiplex cinema
General and detailed photographs
A "multiplex" is a type of movie theater that houses multiple screening rooms in the same building. This allows for multiple films to be shown at the same time, providing a greater variety of choices for viewers.
Typically, a multiplex has 5 to 20 or more theaters, each with a different seating capacity.
The number of theaters allows for a diverse selection of films, from new releases to independent films, documentaries, and sometimes even live performances. Multiplexes are often equipped with the latest projection technology (such as 3D, IMAX, and 4DX) and sound (such as Dolby Atmos).
Many multiplexes offer additional services such as refreshment areas, candy shops, bars, and sometimes even restaurants.
In addition to film screenings, multiplexes can host premieres, film festivals, and special events such as live broadcasts of operas, concerts, or sporting events.
Multiplex cinemas have become popular for their ability to cater to different preferences and provide a complete cinematic experience, going beyond simply watching a movie.
