Redevelopment of the former general markets

OMA proposes to redevelop the spaces of the former General Markets, in a modern civic and entertainment center. In this way OMA translates the phenomenon of the shopping center and contemporary supermarkets, which have both threatened the very existence of a lifestyle that has defined Italian culture for centuries: shopping in the street market.
The project is located on the outskirts of central Rome in a strategic position between Via Ostiense and the Garbatella district.
