A true icon of modernist architecture, villa E-1027, Eileen Gray's first architectural creation, testifies to the thought and attention that the architect has put into every detail of the design. It is equivalent to a poster both for its architecture and for the fixed and self-supporting furniture, the lamps and the decorations that are inseparable from its architectural context. Eileen Gray spent three years designing the furniture collaborating with her partner Jean Badovici. Part of the photographs are the work of Manuel Bougot
Bougot was recently commissioned to photograph the building for the Association Cap Moderne - the non-profit organization that is restoring E-102. The association has as part of its latest fundraising initiative, the purpose of providing disabled access to E-1027, as well as to recreate the fixed and self-supporting furnishings that Gray has designed for the home.
