Fumihiko Maki (槇 文彦 Maki Fumihiko ?; Tokyo, September 6, 1928) is a Japanese architect.
He won the Wolf Prize for the Arts in 1988 and the Pritzker Prize in 1993.
He studied architecture at the University of Tokyo where he graduated in 1952. Among his professors is Kenzō Tange. He continues his education in the United States where he obtains a Masters degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art (1953) and Harvard University (1954).
He remained in the United States until 1965 where he worked at the offices of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Sert Jackson & Associates. In addition to his Japanese and American masters, he was strongly influenced by European architecture, in particular by Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius's Bauhaus School ….. Wikipedia …. >>
