Capilla de las Capuchinas

The chapel of a convent for Capuchin nuns designed by modernist architect Luis Barragán in 1952-1960

The project for the expansion of the Chapel and the Convent of the Sacramental Capuchins, inaugurated in 1960, is the work of the architect Luis Barragán, who not only agreed to do the works for free, but also to finance part of its construction.
The colors of the walls of this architecture together with the sensitive control of the light suggest feelings of serenity and deep spirituality.

The works lasted 7 years during which the architect defined with passion and care the many details present in the building.
Light effects with many and various intensities, direct, soft, from the covering hidden slits allow the light to infiltrate and flood the environment with warm light, highlighting the triple height of the chapel.
