The House on the waterfall is the Italian name with which Fallingwater, or Kaufmann House by the name of its owner, is best known, a villa designed and built on the Bear Run stream near Mill Run in Pennsylvania by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and considered one of the masterpieces of organic architecture.
This architecture, defined by Wright "organic architecture" promotes a harmony between mankind and nature, the creation of a new system in balance between the built environment and the natural environment through the integration of various artificial elements (buildings , furnishings, etc.) and natural surroundings of the site. All become part of a single interconnected architectural body. Wright uses not only local materials such as stone to achieve his organic architecture, but above all modern expressive technology, which despite its apparent disruption integrates marvelously with its volumes in the space of the place.
