The church of Santa Maria di Loreto is a Catholic place of worship in the historic center of Rome, sponsored by Pio Sodalizio dei Fornai, which is still located today in the adjacent building; it is located in the Trevi district, near the Trajan Column and the church of the Santissimo Nome di Maria al Foro Traiano.
Work by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, in the first phase of his activity.
In 1500 the “Congregation of the Fornari” had obtained from Pope Alexander VI a small chapel which was demolished to build the present church. The works, on Sangallo’s project, started in 1507 ..…Wikipedia…>>
