Therapeutic Garden for people with Alzheimer's
Garden with a protected path for Alzheimer's patients or other neurological pathologies that require sensory, visual, auditory, olfactory and sensitivity stimuli in general.
Pedestrian and hippotherapy path.
Many health facilities such as hospitals and clinics now implement therapies using this type of garden to stimulate the memory and senses of the patient in order to reduce the use of drugs.

A therapeutic garden must be a green space specifically designed for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the people it is intended for, whether they are in hospitals, hospices, residences that care for the elderly or terminally ill or even in structures that welcome children.

In the creation of green areas, the dislocation of the spaces, the correct articulation of the paths, the perception of perspectives, the colors and materials used for the surfaces, the lights, the furnishings and the security systems, are all elements to be carefully considered and chosen, taking present the needs of the frail elderly, connected to their different way of perceiving space and their need for autonomy and security.
Gardens help relieve stress to the extent that they promote a sense of control and access to privacy; provide spatial settings in which users are able to come together and enjoy social support; they create opportunities for physical movement and provide access to nature and other positive distractions.

The basic concept of the Alzheimer's garden is that it must represent a guided path, within which people with dementia can move freely, without danger, in paved paths or in green spaces, without any type of obstacle, and characterized by a good number of benches and handrails. The ideal guide is represented by nature: those who frequent it and stop there enter, in fact, in contact with the different colors and aromas of the various species of plants present.
