House for Olivetti in Ivrea

Franco Albini – Villa Olivetti a Ivrea, 1956

In the early 1950s, the Olivetti company contacted leading Italian architects in the forefront to develop typological schemes to be used in the housing design activities for employees.
Conceived by Adriano Olivetti, the program aimed to draw up a "catalog consisting of a selected number of projects for standardized and characterized houses" from which employees could choose the project for their home.
The goal of this program was to spread "high" architectural quality during the construction of technically solid housing.
