Michelangelo Buonarroti was one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance.

(Caprese, 6 March 1475 – Rome, 18 February 1564) was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet. Protagonist of the Italian Renaissance, already in his lifetime he was recognized as one of the greatest artists of all time.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, commonly known as Michelangelo, was one of the greatest Italian artists and one of the most influential figures of the Italian Renaissance. He was born on 6 March 1475 in Caprese, in the Duchy of Urbino, and died on 18 February 1564 in Rome. His artistic career spanned over 70 years, during which he created works of extraordinary importance in the fields of sculpture, painting and architecture.
Here are some of Michelangelo’s most famous works:
The Pietà: This marble sculpture, created between 1498 and 1499, is one of Michelangelo’s first significant works and is located in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. It represents the Madonna holding the body of Jesus after his crucifixion and is an extraordinary example of grace and beauty.
David: The statue of David, sculpted between 1501 and 1504, is one of Michelangelo’s most iconic works. It represents the young David preparing to fight against the giant Goliath. It is considered a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture and is exhibited at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence.
The Creation of Adam: This fresco is part of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, located inside the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. Made between 1512 and 1513, it depicts the divine act of God’s creation of Adam. It is one of the most famous works of the Renaissance and an important icon of Western culture.
The Sistine Chapel: Michelangelo was commissioned to decorate the vault of the Sistine Chapel with frescoes between 1508 and 1512. Later, he also worked on the altar wall, creating the Last Judgment between 1536 and 1541.
St. Peter’s Basilica: Michelangelo contributed significantly to the design of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, creating the dome that has become an icon of religious architecture.
Michelangelo’s career profoundly influenced subsequent generations of artists and he is considered one of the greatest artistic geniuses in the history of Western art. His ability to create works of art that express human and spiritual greatness has made him a timeless figure in art and culture.
