Ludwig Mies van der Rohe – National Gallery, Berlino Germany, 1965-1968

The Neue Nationalgalerie is a museum in Berlin destined, since its establishment, to deal with the art of the twentieth century. The museum is located in the Kulturforum and is considered, together with the Gemäldegalerie and the Kunstgewerbemuseum, one of the most important museums in the area. The building was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and was inaugurated in 1968.

In 1962 van der Rohe was commissioned to design a new museum to collect works of art from the twentieth century. The building was inaugurated in 1968, a year before the architect's death, and was the first museum to be built in the area which would later become the Kulturforum. In the immediate vicinity are the Staatsbibliothek and Philharmonie Berlin designed by Hans Scharoun.
