Palazzo Terragni is a historic building in Lissone, it was built between 1938 and 1940 initially as Casa del Fascio, then it became Casa del Popolo. It constitutes a notable example of rationalist architecture.
In the second half of the 1930s, a competition was launched in Lissone for the construction of a Casa del Fascio, to be built in the central Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III (now Piazza Libertà). The winning project, drawn up by architects Giuseppe Terragni and Antonio Carminati, envisages a building overlooking the square with a long horizontal body, closed on one side by a massive lictorian tower, with the memorial of the Fallen and the arengario. It is an important expression of Italian rationalism.
The offices are distributed along the main facade and, in the rear part, there is a theater and a large space for meetings and events. The works, which began in 1938, were completed in 1940.
Since 1975 the building (purchased in 1968 by the Municipality) takes the name of Palazzo Terragni and is used as a picture gallery, congress center and cultural events.
