Maison Guiette

Le Corbusier – Maison Guiette – Anvers Belgique, 1926

La Maison Guiette also known as Les Peupliers, is a house in Antwerp, Belgium, designed by Le Corbusier in 1926 and built in 1927, a few years before the Villa Savoye. It was the studio and quarters of René Guiette, painter and art critic. One of the lesser-known works of the Franco-Swiss architect is part of the "white villas" series that defined the architect's initial career and is a prime example of international style.
Rene Guiette asked Le Corbusier to design a house modeled on the 1925 Pavilion de l'Esprit Nouveau. Guiette drew inspiration for her whole life from the house with painting and experimental photography.
