Weissenhof house – Maison double
Le Corbusier – House in the Weissenhof district, Stuttgart Germany, 1927
Location
Stoccarda, Germania
Year
1927
Architect
Le Corbusier
This architecture has a steel structure and clearly represents the house conceived as a "machine for living": inside a narrow corridor acts as a distributor and connection between the various rooms, Le Corbusier will emphasize having the same dimensions as those present in train cars.
In this architecture, changes in the use of space between day and night are presented.
The living rooms are converted into bedrooms at night, the furnishings with the foldaway beds allow you to leave the space free during the day.
On the top floor, study-library rooms open onto the roof-garden which becomes a fundamental place in the modern concept of living.
